Carding
Hi - I'm a single middle-aged white woman who lives in McCauley. I haven't personally had issues with police, and have appreciated the ways they've helped me in problematic situations.
I also believe that carding should stop. I have read numerous statements and accounts by people talking about racism and classism inherent in carding. I don't believe that carding results in an increased feeling of safety for me, and I know it doesn't for people in my neighbourhood.

Hi @janemagda thanks for sharing. The issue of "carding" or "street checks" has been a front and center here in Edmonton and across the country. Racism and profiling have no place in Edmonton- or anywhere for that matter. We hope to post an update on street checks in the near future.

Thank you. I have often been carded and I'm glad you brought it up. It's so common in my world that I would never think to bring it up 🐞
